Access control is the process of electronically controlling access through doors and turnstiles. At its’ most basic, a normally locked door can only be accessed by using a card or fob which has to be presented to a local card reader.
Systems can be controlled from a central PC and can operate hundreds of doors and be linked to remote sites wirelessly. Card readers include swipe cards, proximity cards and smart card systems in addition to the latest biometric fingerprint and retina models can all be configured into your Acces Control System.
Access Control Systems can allow employees and staff access to individual rooms, floors or groups of areas within any premises, buildings or across several business sites. Business use these systems to control access to storerooms, cash offices and high risk or confidential areas or rooms. Management can have access through a terminal to real time information detailing who is on site, where and when. Many companies across the UK now use these systems not only to monitor site access and security but also to manage day to day operations including acess to areas where special competences are required to manage safety risks.
Software packages can include a photo I.D. badging module, enabling employee details and picture to be stored and printed onto access cards. Links can be made with associated CCTV equipment to capture images as doors are accessed.
